"Love by The Yard"  is a solo exhibition of mixed media, paintings, sculpture and performance by artist Vicky Barranguet, an immigrant to NYC from Montevideo, Uruguay. 

The focus of the exhibition is a a 3' x 40' canvas roll of mixed media, abstract paintings created in her Harlem studio.  This roll hangs suspended from the ceiling (or top of the wall) as the painting is pulled, cascading to the floor and displayed dramatically into the exhibition space.  

The visitor is asked to participate and collaborate with the artist by selecting an area of the canvas where they decipher marks the beginning and end of a painting they would like to acquire. Marks and notations will be made on the canvas throughout the exhibition where each viewer has decided upon as the beginning and end of their individual painting.

At the end of the exhibition there will be a performance of the artist cutting the canvas roll at each of these markings thereby creating an entire series of individual paintings from the original roll.  From each painting that is cut/ created in "Love by The Yard" , a portion of the proceeds will go to Operation Refugee Child (Hope Boxes).
